Slow it down. A titanium steel pendant you breathe out through. The channel inside is narrow, so the exhale comes out long and even whether you meant it to or not — that is the whole trick. The usual pattern is in for four, hold, out for eight, and the pendant sets the pace for you. It opens, too: a spring insert holds a drop of oil or perfume, so it carries a scent as well as a rhythm.
